If you find that your dog is scratching a particular area incessantly, it would be a good idea to spread the fur apart and check the dog's skin in that area. Your dog could be suffering from allergies to things such as shampoo, body spray, food, or even the detergent used to wash his bed. Chances are he could also have developed exema, psoriasis, rashes, a case of dry skin, or contracting fleas or ticks.
Whatever the case, do not try to diagnose and treat the problem yourself. You can try a different brand of dog food which many times could solve the problem, otherwise, seek veterinary advice.
